Northern Region
The Northern Region of the UKFJB covers the area from Cleveland/Teeside in the south of the Region to Ashington in the North, encompassing Durham, Gateshead, Newcastle and the surrounding areas.
The Northern Regional Committee consists of a maximum of five representatives from each Association who meet on the first Wednesday of each month.
Each year the Region holds the Northern Championships which has run since 70's, and has hosted the World Championships many times over the years since 1976 at Gypsies Green in South Shields, Beamish Museum, and Hackworth Park in Shildon.
Over the past years the North East bands have achieved a standard of excellence second to none and this has encouraged lesser bands to improve their own standard accordingly. In turn, this has increased the keen level of competition across the Region. Up to 2010 the North East bands have won the World Championships a staggering 47 times since 1974.
