South Tyneside Championships - 14th July 2002
This year the Northern Region South Tyneside Championships are to be held in partnership with the Myaesthesia Gravis Society. This is a charity devoted to the raising of awareness and funding for what is more commonly known as the "Rag Doll" disease. As our own Jazz Band movementis, in the main, for healthy children, it is a good opportunity to give something back to other children and adults who are not so lucky.
The event will take place at Gypsies Green Stadium in South Shields and all the Bands are welcome to attend. As is usual in the Northern Region, UKFJB rules will apply with the exception of the head count. We are looking forward to an exciting day with many entertainments and stalls as well as our own Jazz Band competition.
Even if you are not competing, come along and support us. Any offers of help would be gratefully received.
WORLD CHAMPIONSHIPS 2003
The 2003 World Championships is due to take place at Gypsies Green Stadium, South Shields. hosted by the Northern Region.
An event of this nature takes a great deal of organising and 'people power' in respect of work, not only on the weekend itself but also in the preceding months. We would therefore like to form a working party to meet, say, every three months to discuss and prepare for the event. If any supporters, committee members or senior marching members would be interested in this, I would be grateful if you could give me a call on (day) 0191 2228555, (evening) 0191 2647724 or e-mail me on CarolMee@ncl.ac.uk. All offers of help gratefully received.
We would also be looking for suggestions as to sponsorship, grants, stalls and entertainments for the weekend. Let's try and make this more than a run-of-the-mill carnival, and generate a bit of excitement in the whole weekend. Again, please contact me on the above or via your regional delegates. These are:
TT - Sheila Howe, Barbara Kilding, Georgina Bateson, Corinne Rosul, Christine Phillips.
ND - Milly Morton, Lynn Cooper and Doreen Carr.
NE - Monica Robinson and Evelyn Henry.
