The Welsh Region is an associated member of the United Kingdom Federation of Jazz Bands. They are a National Voluntary Youth Organisation working mostly with young people in Wales between the ages of 11 years and 25 years.

We do have active members over that age group which are associated members who are encouraged to stay with the Movement to become Youth Leaders and Committee members for our future.

The key tasks of our area are to enthuse young people to seize opportunities for learning, ensuring that all the services we offer to our young people are a high quality and to promote equal opportunities.
The Welsh area consists of three leagues, the Valley League, the Rhondda League, South Wales Association.

 

The Area Officer's are selected by these leagues to serve a two year term of office.

The present officers are
Chairman: David Brannan (MBE).
Vice Chairman: Arfon Henderson (MBE).

The area committee is made up from officers from the three leagues. Present representatives from the Valley League, (Doug Waton, Cliff Dixon). The Rhondda League, (David Hopkins, Ray Thomas). South Wales Association (Robert Cole, Doreen Bell, A Cole).
Also the President Garfield Bishop (BEM) of the United Kingdom Federation of Jazz Bands attends our monthly meetings.

Events that are held annually in the Welsh area are: The Spring Festival in April, the National Indoor in November, the Open Resorts in July, the Rhondda Outdoor and indoor events held in July and November.
